Managing search targets for a federated search source

When you set up a federated search source (or host), you must set up one or more search targets that define the databases that you want to connect to, and how Portfolio should handle the data that is returned from the federated search target. Once you set up a search target, you can test the connection to the search target to verify that it was set up correctly and the search target can connect to the database successfully. To make the search target available for patrons to use when searching, you can assign the search target to one or more search profiles. When customers access that search profile, they can use search against any search targets that are assigned to that profile. If you no longer need a search target, you can delete it.

Federated search targets, including Academic Reserves targets, are not available in the Advanced Search page to limit searching.
